Every piece of digital exhaust feeds an ecosystem designed to measure, predict, and influence. You can request data removal from brokers through sites like Privacy Rights Clearinghouse. You can use browsers like Brave or extensions like Privacy Badger that block tracking. You can even turn off ad personalization in your settings — it won’t erase your twin, but it’ll starve it a little.

Still, I think the bigger shift has to happen internally. We need to stop treating privacy as something for paranoid people. It’s dignity. It’s self-respect. It’s the right to not be reduced to a set of probabilities. I don’t want my virtual self to make all my decisions — I want to keep some mystery in who I am.

Maybe that’s the point of realizing this version of ourselves exists — not to fear it, but to reclaim it. Because the digital version of you might be watching, predicting, and influencing, but it’s not *you.* It doesn’t know what it feels like to hold your kid’s hand, to watch a sunrise, or to change your mind. It can only guess. And maybe that’s what keeps the real version of us human.
